East Grinstead Town Council is a Progressive Town Council, designated as a “larger council” by the
National Association Of Local Councils due to our turnover of over £1m PA and breadth of services
provided.

Arising from the imminent retirement of the current postholder we are seeking to fill a senior role in the
Council. Heading up a small team responsible for the internal Support functions of the council including
Finance, HR and IT.

Applicants for this position must have wide experience of financial management, preferably but not
essentially in a local authority environment, and will serve as the Council’s Responsible Finance Officer.
An accountancy qualification is necessary. Wider experience including IT and HR would be desirable but
an aptitude to take on new areas of responsibility is more important. The role also deputises for the
Town Clerk in her absence, and leads on Personnel, Health and Safety and IT with professional external
support.

September to enable a handover period.

This council is a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
