About the Role

Wivelsfield School is looking for an inspirational and caring part time Teaching Assistant 2 to join our happy team.

Your main role would be to provide support to an individual pupil in KS1. You would work with this child mostly in a whole class and group setting, providing 1:1 support to enable the pupil to be more fully integrated into class teaching and other school activities. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working in a primary school, preferably Key Stage 1; a calm and positive manner when working with children and have Grade C or above in English and Mathematics. Alternatively, this position would provide an excellent opportunity for someone wanting school experience prior to teacher training.

The school has 175 pupils on roll.  It benefits from spacious modern premises with extensive grounds and is situated in the heart of the village, near both Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill.  We are a very popular, oversubscribed school and pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming, with a strong ‘community ethos’.

The position is fixed term until July 2017, but as the school is expanding, it is likely that the contract will be extended.

Hours between  8.45am – 12 noon

If you are interested in the position please complete the application form which can be found on our website. Alternatively, contact the school office, preferably by e-mail. Interviews will be held on Monday 19th December. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and are strongly encouraged. Please contact the school to make an appointment, or for any other queries regarding this position.

You will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).

Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits. This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).

East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.
