Interview date: 20/10/2016 and 21/10/2016

There is a vacancy within the busy Ceremonies team for a Registration Support Assistant based in West Sussex ,Register Office, Crawley. This role primarily supports the Registration Service which is a provider of front line services to West Sussex residents at the time of key events in their lives.

This role is to assist Registration Officers in the performance of their duties in connection with the delivery of ceremony registration and will include reception, ushering, assisting with other ceremonies such as Citizenship, dealing with enquiries from the public both face to face & on the telephone, and taking basic bookings, as well as dealing with a number of ceremony administration tasks.

This work requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. There will be regular telephone contact with colleagues, other departments and customers which requires good communication skills. The role will include reporting from the Registrations database and therefore candidates need a sound IT ability, a good working knowledge of word and excel, and familiarity with working with databases.

It is important to be able to work to deadlines in relation to all aspects of the work in order to meet the needs of the Service. You will also need to work on your own initiative in order to ensure a high level of customer service when unexpected enquiries or problems arise.

A knowledge of registration would be an advantage, but full training will be given to the right candidate.
The post is 37 hours a week, some weekend working is required on a rota basis (approx. 1 in 4 Saturdays). Time off will be given in the week, ie Monday off if worked the Saturday.

The registration service is split into two teams, Ceremonies & Births and deaths. The attached role profile is generic to all teams, this post is within the Ceremonies team so the work relates to ceremonies only, and is indicative rather than a description of the work of this post.
