Portage is a home visiting education service for preschool children with additional support needs and their families. As a part-time Portage Home Visitor you will have responsibility for delivering Portage educational programmes to children with a wide range of additional support needs including children on the Autistic Spectrum. This service will be provided to families living within the Crawley and East Grinstead area.

Practical experience of working with very young children is essential. Knowledge of effective strategies used for working with children with additional support needs will be needed. An understanding of the Portage approach will be expected, and Portage training would be an advantage although there will be an opportunity for you to complete formal Portage Training if required. Other Early Years qualifications will also be an advantage.

The ability to work in partnership with families and work together with other professionals is essential.

Travel around the county will be required. You will need to hold a full driving licence and have the use of a car during working hours, as much of your day will be spent on educational home visits.
