Senior Registration Officer, Ceremonies Team The registration Service is split into two teams, the Ceremonies Team & Births and Deaths Team. This role is within the Ceremonies Team. (The attached Job description is generic to both teams) Due to retirement we have an exciting opportunity within the busy Ceremonies team for a Senior Registration Officer. This post will involve all aspects of registering both statutory & non statutory celebrations. The Successful candidate will be someone with a high degree of motivation, commitment and flexibility who will work to ensure that ceremonies are provided to the highest standard according to statute, council policy and our service aims and objectives. Functions of the post include: Supervising our busy bookings hub, statutory functions of the registrar and Superintendent registrar, training and assessing front line staff, advising & liaising with approved venues and those seeking approval as well as taking the lead on a variety of internal projects. You will have a proven track record of achievement in a customer focussed role, and a strong technical background in Civil Marriage /CP Registrations, as well as supervisory experience. You will need excellent customer services skills and the ability to remain calm and accurate under pressure, with very strong communication skills in a variety of formats as well as excellent numerical & literacy skills and sound business IT skills. As it is necessary to be able to think quickly and make decisions and recommendations based on legislative requirements, a proven ability to read and interpret legislation / best practice/ processes is essential. Training can be provided in some areas for the right candidate, although proven ability in registration work is essential. The post is primarily based in Crawley, although you will need the ability to travel independently throughout the County as required, including offices such as Chichester & Worthing and venues which are not on public transport routes. You will work at different locations as and when necessary sometimes at short notice. The post is 37 Hours a week; some weekend working is required for which time off in the week will be given.
