Job Title: Legal Secretary - Float

Are you an experienced legal secretary looking to broaden your legal experience whilst working for a market leading law firm with excellent employee benefits?

We are looking for an experienced legal secretary to join a very well established, friendly, growing law firm group. The people are lovely to work with and they have a professional but relaxed environment. This would be an excellent opportunity to expand and diversify your legal experience by working across a range of local offices and for a number of different fee earners in different legal disciplines.

In the past float secretaries at this firm often end up settling into a more fixed role with a particular fee earner, if they have established a preference.

Essential Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Excellent IT skills with experience in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Email and Internet. Ideally previous experience of using databases, digital dictation and a case manager system.
• Previous knowledge and experience of legal work
• Fast and accurate audio and copy typing skills.
• Ability to use track changes, and/or other comparison software as appropriate.
• Excellent organisational skills
• Effective administrative, communication, decision making and team working skills.
• Flexibility to provide support in different offices of the firm when required, with variable start and finish times on occasions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• To provide secretarial support in offices across the firm to cover for holidays, absences and busy periods. Offices are in Crawley, London and Guildford, although you will predominantly work in Crawley and Guildford. Travel expenses will be paid for sites which are not your primary base.
• To provide an audio typing service centrally via digital dictation, when not allocated to support a specific group.
• To provide administrative support to the Library and Business Development teams.
• Completion of standard forms without fee-earner assistance.
• File and document management.
• Deal with general telephone enquiries and resolve specific enquiries, receive and relay messages to and from clients and other professionals on behalf of fee earners.
• Diary maintenance for fee-earners within the group allocated.
• General team administration when requested.
