Senior Care Officer
Crawley, West Sussex

£10.00 - £12.00 per hour
35 hours per week – Permanent position

I am currently looking for a Senior Care Officer for an elderly care home based in Crawley. The home is set within 3.5 acres of beautiful grounds and the home provides a professional and caring home for up to 73 residents within their 3 units on site.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• To oversee and guide the Care Assistants with the personal practical and social/emotional care of residents and other residents of the Home, enabling them to meet their individual needs.
• Act as Duty Officer having particular responsibility to supervise all staff on a regular basis, ensure staff absences are covered and respond appropriately to immediate issues concerning the daily management of the home.
• To over see the administration of medication in accordance with care plans medication records and company policy and procedure.
• To undertake continual appropriate record keeping, including contributing to and monitoring and reviewing personal care records, medication records and care plans.
• To promote a positive image of the service by attaining a high professional standard and approach at all times.
• To undertake assessments and reassessments of residents as directed by the Care Manager
• To ensure that social activities are organized including utilizing resources in the community to ensure that social and emotional needs have individual residents are met.
• Supervise, induct, train and work alongside Care Assistants as designated in all aspects of care work by allocating sharing and monitoring duties in order to provide a high quality of care service.
• To improve communication and maintain individual resident choice through assisting the Care Manager to organize and chair regular meetings involving appropriate staff and/or residents.

Ideally you will hold an NVQ 3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care. You will have excellent leadership skills and ideally have experience working with residents with Dementia. The role will involve liaising with family, residents, GP's and other healthcare professionals so excellent communication skills are a must.
