Our service in Crawley is a six bedded, mixed gender unit which provides high quality day care and over night short breaks for children and young people with learning disabilities.

As well as providing a break for the young person and their family, we aim to provide a positive, stimulating and fun environment where children and young people have the opportunities to try new experiences and activities. Part of our work is also to support these children and young people to improve their communication skills and manage their challenging behaviour.

Our location in a suburb of Crawley means we maintain a presence in the local community as well as having easy access to public transport and local shop and leisure facilities.

Child Care Officers
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Child Care Officers to support children and young people receiving short breaks at High Trees. You will be involved in supporting them throughout their daily routines (including personal care), going on activities (walks, swimming etc.), implementing behavioural programs, taking on a key working role for certain Young People and sometimes managing challenging behaviour. You will need experience of working with children. Experience of working with children with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour would be an advantage.

Child Care Officers (Casual)
We are also looking for casual Child Care Officers, who will work with us on an as and when needed basis, to cover training, leave, sickness and any other times where additional staffing may be required. You will support the core staff team in working with the Young People, and implementing their various routines and activities. Some experience of working with children is needed.

In line with the National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes we are unable to accept applications from anybody under the age of 22.

Salary £17,372 to £18,376 per annum (£11,033 to £11,671 pro rata for 23.5 hours)
Permanent, Full time and Part time (Casual positions available also)
Based in Crawley area
37 and 23.5 hours per week (Casual positions are on an as and when required basis)
